The Board of EMQUAL and the 17th Annual General Meeting approved a name change. From 1 May 2011 we will be known as EMQUAL Emergency Management Qualifications. The change represents the growing breadth of membership. We will retain FRSITO as our legal name.

The Just The Job TV series recently aired this segment on Volunteer Rural Fire Fighters. It features Kierin Oppatt and the team at the Lake Okareka Rural Fire Force, winners of EMQUAL's Excellence in Training Award in 2008.
EMQUAL would like to thank Kierin, Richard Horn, and the rest of the Lake Okareka Rural Fire Force for giving their time to feature on the show, and the Rotorua District Council.
In Partnership with Industry, we are developing unit standards and qualifications to meet the needs of all sectors as their education and training partner.
EMQUAL is responsible for setting national standards and facilitating training and assessment for the industry as well as moderating internal and external training provision.
We offer on site assistance to registered EMQUAL workplaces and learners.
